Villa sur la Costa Smeralda
Costa Smeralda (Italian for “Emerald Coast”) is a coastal area in Northern Sardinia, 55 km (34.65 miles) in length, covered in more than 30 Sq.km of enchanting beaches. Along the coast is a systematically developed group of villages, built according to an extremely detailed urban plan. Development began in 1961, and was financed by a consortium of companies. The president of the consortium and representative figure was Prince Karim Aga Khan. Famous architects involved in the project included Busiri-Vici, Jacques Couëlle, Savin Couëlle, and Vietti. Costa Smeralda is widely known as a luxurious tourist destination due to its exquisite white sand beaches, Pevero golf club, private jet access in Olbia, and helicopter service. The main towns and villages in the area are Arzachena, Olbia, Porto Cervo, Liscia di Vacca, Capriccioli and Romazzino. Every September brings the annual “Sardinia Cup” sailing regata, which is held off the coast, usually featuring famous boats from all over the world. Polo matches are held seasonally between April and October at Gershan near Arzachena. The Italian film festival is held in Tavolara and a vintage car rally entertains antique car enthusiasts. Archaeological sites include the Li Muri “Tomba dei Giganti” (Giants’ Grave). Located closer to Africa than Italy, Sardinia’s turquoise sea and white sandy beaches rival the tropics. Sant'Antioco & San Pietro, off the coast of Southwestern Sardinia, are charming islands as yet unspoiled by too much tourist development. Away from the coast, the scenery can be similarly stunning with a pastoral quilt of forested mountain peaks, valleys of citrus groves and pastures of happily grazing cattle and sheep in contrast with the urban scene. Some towns are very modern; others, like medieval Bosa in the west, are impossibly picturesque with their pink-and-golden buildings flanking the river. Alghero, in Northern Sardinia, has a fascinating Catalan history (the language is still spoken here) and a delightful old centre; the lively town of Iglesias also retains an appealing Spanish legacy. Calgliari is historic and cosmopolitan at the same time, while the equally historic Oristano is quietly elegant. Traditional culture thrives most vigorously in the heartland where the elderly women are still draped in black; here tourists are rare – stared at – but ultimately welcomed.
La Terrazza is located on the hill famously known as Pantogia, overlooking the Pevero Golf Course and the bay of Cala di Volpe. Porto Cervo and most of its renowned beaches are just a few minutes’ drive from the Villa. This elegant and chic, one-of-a-kind property is situated amidst thick Mediterranean bush, measuring 360 sqm (3,888 Sq.ft.) of living space and 5,720 m (18, 762 ft.) of fenced garden and grounds, providing absolute peace and tranquility in seclusion. Carved on the hill, the Villa opens onto its magnificent terrace and the swimming pool affording a breathtaking views.Professional, yet simple methodology and local materials have been utilized by famous architect Couelle to design this villa. Its overall aesthetic character is one of organic, curving shapes and rough-hewn materials. La Terrazza is split in two separate buildings, connected by the main door. The house is sober and elegant, its interior cool and airy. Villa Terrazza has been decorated in a funky, rustic style with beamed corners, light pastel colours and French windows offering views of its beautiful garden and pool. The villa’s garden includes a small orchard with grapes, figs and some vegetables. This Villa ensures full privacy, from nowhere around, the property can be visible or spotted but still is only 5 minutes drive from the closest beach and just 3.5 km from the famous Porto Cervo Yachting Club.
